I walked out of my house to breath the fresh morning air. The sun slowly rose, to bring about a great sea of opalescence. The birds began to chirp, quietness erupted into a great tumult. The flowers stretched their pedals, reaching every portion of the horizon. My eyes gave a radiant glow, with a small sparkle in each pupil. The first cars filled the streets, the abandoned office buildings were replaced by abandoned houses. The first letters of the day were taught at the elementary schools, and the first quadratic formulas were taught to the high schools. The sun burned the streets more fiercely. The nocturnal animals of the canyons, forests, and streams were suddenly fast asleep as the other animals arose. The first traffic jam. The first news report that wasn't about to fall asleep at any given second. Everything was suddenly alive.
As the day went through, things were different. The pedals were dying of heat, and finding a place to hide. The kids at the schools were annoyed listening to stories of fictional fantasies that did nothing to benefit them. The streets were similar to the flowers, they were so hot that they burned small portions of rubber from tires. The news was boring, they simply repeated the morning news. The animals were resting, from a lazy day of doing nothing. The glow in my eyes retired. They were done.
The evening was suddenly fast. Traffic was unbelievably terrible. Animals hunted for meat, and they successfully killed. School was long done, and houses that were left behind, were once again being occupied with cocktails and laughter. The news had great stories to share with the world, the latest celebrity gossip and the latest death. T.V's were happily turned on to see these events. The pedals on the flowers retreated even further. They grasped for the center of the flower, unsuccessfully. The street was cooled off and fresh. My eyes got the glow back, and they were ready for adventure. All the corporate buildings received a nice break from their hard work of managing businesses and the world. The sun was already on the other side of the world, lighting the lives of billions of others.
It was still again. Nothing moved. Nothing breathed. The air didn't dare move. The nocturnal animals came out again. Their eyes were wild. They hunted the others that were forced to sleep during this hour. Schools, News Rooms, and Corporate Buildings got a lot of room to stretch out and relax. The flowers were cold. Small bits of frost developed on them. They were blinded. The only thing on their mind was warmth. The streets were no longer oppressed with cars. They hated this treatment. This made them feel insignificant and unrealized. The newsrooms were done. The very few T.V's turned on were playing replays of this no longer new news. And my eyes. My eyes were shut, whether there was a glimmer or not was a mystery I would never solve.
